Hey There
I'm Jolene, the birth doula behind Nurturing Nova Within. The name, Nurturing Nova Within, is so special to me. I have had four births of mine own but only one was I treated like my choices matter and that was with my daughter whose middle name felt so perfect, Nova.
'Why birth work?'
Serving rural areas of south Texas felt natural to me, as I felt first hand what being pregnant in a maternity care desert feels like. Three of my pregnancies happened in counties that no longer have maternity wards in their hospitals or even OB/GYNs. I experienced providers speaking over me and making decisions for me simply because I wasn't informed and maybe a little because I was a young mom. My four births were four very different stories that shaped the way I support others. I have made it my mission to make sure no family that chooses me has their birth written for them simply based off of where they live. I am not here to push my idea of a perfect birth, but I'm also not here to let you settle for just a healthy baby.
My goal for my work is to educate and speak confidence into you so that you walk away from your birth experience feeling empowered, capable and at peace.
